Dylan was just under a year old when he first joined the program, having already faced significant challenges. His father abandoned him before he was born, and his mother passed away from a rare illness when he was only six months old, at just 29 years old. Today, Dylan is raised by his loving grandfather, navigating the hardships of life in an impoverished area and the economic crisis on the island. Despite these difficulties, Dylan and his grandfather continue to share smiles, laughter, joy, and love. They are now part of the Manos Family and will receive ongoing support as Dylan learns and grows. |

KARLA
Karla joined the program at just 2 years old. Despite her family’s living conditions lacking many basic necessities, Karla continues to share her smile with the world! In October 2023, Karla suffered severe burns from a house fire ignited by an old AC unit in her room, which exploded during the night. Her family and neighbors rushed in to save her, and she survived. Thankfully, she had the love and support of her family, community, and Manos volunteers to help her heal. Manos raised funds to provide her with a new AC unit, bed, and a complete restoration of her room. Volunteers in Cuba have reported that Karla’s carefree smile has returned in full force! |
