Around the World with Manos

The 2015/16 Cultural Education Model Travel Program took children on a "trip to Guatemala," the land of the volcanoes,  Giant Kites, and delicious "tres leches" cake! The program soon transformed Manos community centers into Iceland, a land rich with beautiful waterfalls and a Viking history! As Spring rolled around, children and volunteers experienced Switzerland and South Korea, filled with culture and good food!  From cheese and chocolate fondu to hosting their very own Korean barb-b-cue.

The Most Magical Halloween Adventure Yet

For Halloween, the Manos Mexico site transformed for a special celebration that took children down the rabbit hole and into unforgettable adventures! If you haven't seen this short video, please do!

Celebrating Cultures with New Years & the Traditional Lantern Festival

Everyone from the village came together to celebrate and enjoy the 2016 New Year's Gala hosted by Manos China with performances from Manos kids and from the Senior Choir. Watch the video below for a beautiful presentation.
Marking the end of Lunar New Year festivities, the Manos Community Center gave children a day to remember filled with games, lantern making, and a taste of traditional sweet dumplings during the 2016 Lantern Festival.

Manos Volunteers Abroad

Manos Volunteers continue to expand their horizons through their own travel, bringing remarkable experiences to the communities we serve.  Manos Mexico welcomed visits from China's team of Volunteers:  Avivi Li and Mandy Zhang , as well as from Board Members Ally Huang, Coco Gao (and her son David), Melinda Ruby, Patty Barry, Ozzie Martinez, and Joseph Bertot.

A Dream Come True as former Manos students, turned dedicated volunteers are the first Manos Mexico volunteers to travel abroad! Here they are pictured in 2002 and now in 2016, visiting the US! What they are bring back to share with Manos kids and programs is truly A DREAM COME TRUE!

Community Centers transform into Romania

In March 2015, students learned all about Romania, including fascinating facts about the historical Romanian leader, Count Dracula! Indeed, this year's Cultural Education Program was one to remember as Centers turned into castles filled with great food, musical performances, and historical characters. Thank You all who had a part in making this happen! Bringing the world to children of poor remote areas!  Thank You!

Manos Olympics Camp, always FUN!

In May, Manos' Annual Olympics Camp was a great way to celebrate all four countries studied in the Cultural Education Program, filled with competition, games, team-work, trophies, and lots of FUN!

Mini-City Field-Trip Sparks Imagination

In June, little ones at the Manos Mexico site were rewarded for their attendance, show of responsibility and achievements in the Cultural Education Program with a field trip to Mini City!  Imagination was sparked as they explored places and professions in this make believe world.

Tradition Alive with the Lantern Festival

Students in China filled the Community Center and village with colors as they celebrated a traditional Lantern Festival.

Student Educational Experience (SEE) Truly International

This year's SEE Program was another unforgettable experience for 12 top students awarded with a trip to their nation's capital city, Beijing. Thanks to amazing supporters who helped sponsor students and provide one of the most enriching SEE trips we've ever had, students got to visit key sites in Beijing, including the Great Wall of China. THANK YOU supporters for sharing the "Summer Love."  Click here to view our supporters http://www.manosintl.org/see-program.htm.  Special thanks to Caravan restaurant owner Badr Benjelloun who provided Manos students and volunteers with a delicious Moroccan feast, and made Capoeira class possible for SEE students. THANK YOU ALL!

Summer Isn't over!

The annual field-trip to the Water Park brought tons of childhood memories as Summer 2015 ended with a splash for kids at the Manos Mexico site.

The Gift of Giving & Christmas in China

The Holidays were made extra special this past December thanks to supporters old and new who found it in their hearts to share the gift of giving with Manos children in poor remote areas.  Jan Ruby made a special donation to help bring Christmas to China sites. Pingshan village had a special visit from Santa Claus this year. The Making Memories Fund also helped make the holidays extra special, and specially made gifts from A Child's Place were given to students and volunteers at the Manos Mexico site. What a truly memorable Season of Giving.  Thank You all!
