Manos Internacional is a 100% volunteer founded, led, and run non-profit organization.

Manos Internacional is a grassroots nonprofit, founded in 2001 under the leadership of John Alvarez, with a simple belief: Education and cultural connection are the key to transforming lives. 

Our Mission is to unite the world through the sharing of cultures, ideas, and education.

In 2005, we officially received our registered 501(c)3 nonprofit status; and since our founding, Manos continues to be 100% volunteer led and run, with many volunteers coming from the very communities we serve.

We provide enriching educational and cultural development programs as well as scholarships and relief assistance to children and seniors in poor and remote areas currently in China, Mexico, and Cuba. All programs are rooted in dignity, inclusion, and cultural understanding.

None of this would be possible without the dedication and generosity of our incredible volunteers and supporters. Together, we are guided by two simple mottos that have defined the spirit of Manos from the beginning: “Give what you can, when you can” and “A little goes a long way where Manos serves.”
