Field Trips Make it a Year to Remember
Field trips have been one way to reward the responsibility and commitment Manos kids have upheld throughout the year. Participating in Manos programs pushes our kids towards the life skills they'll need to progress: like being responsible for attendance and striving towards good citizenship. We've seen great strides across the globe throughout the year, and we were able to give our kids great rewards: field trips to a theme park, water park in Mexico, and to Dr. Bethune's Museum in China.
Historical Manos Moment: a visit to Mexico City
Former Manos student turned dedicated Volunteer at the Mexico site, Mariana Hernandez, visited Mexico City after graduating with a BS in computer science. Joining Mariana on this unprecedented trip was Manos Volunteer VP Belinda Wells. This was a moment of firsts, with Mariana being the first Manos student to earn a college degree, and with this being her first time on an airplane, every minute was an experience to remember!
Just Keeps Getting Better: Celebrating Nepal at Mexico and China sitesThis Fall 2014 we kicked off the Cultural Education Program year studying Nepal. Bringing the world to our community centers, volunteers at sites in both Mexico and China captured the colors and spirit of Nepal. The four-week session ended with cultural dances, incensed-filled temples and festivals like no other place in the world!
